Core mechanics

Grace rewards movement control under pressure. The game is simple to enter but punishing when timing breaks.

The immediate skill check is mechanical: sprint routing, crouch discipline, and slide timing. Clean movement buys extra seconds and better positioning when threats appear.

The second layer is information. Audio cues, room readability, and understanding when to commit versus reset are often more important than raw reaction speed.

MovementSprint, crouch, and slide are your core verbs. Momentum management is a practical advantage, not just style.
Room pacingMost decisions are route decisions: where to cut, what to skip, and when safety is worth a small time loss.
EntitiesThreats follow recognizable behavior rules. Learn signals and windows instead of panic reactions.
Skill ceilingVery high: consistent clears and fast clears are different skills.

Lobby & map flow

Based on your added notes and community descriptions.

On load, players see a warning screen and confirm to enter. In the lobby, spawn is on a stone platform with a prominent floor mural; players then move to doors to start runs.

When a room fills or timer conditions are met, the floor opens and players drop into The Maze. The map feels like a long, hollow brick structure with repeated room pressure and navigation checks.

Community notes also describe the surrounding void as traversable/solid in unusual ways, with edge-case behavior at extreme distances. Treat this as observed behavior that may change by patch.

EntryLobby -> choose door -> drop to run area / maze flow.
Lobby purposeQueueing, party setup, and run start transitions.
Spatial feelLong, repeating brick-run corridors with heavy pressure on navigation consistency.

Timer & Goatman pressure

The timer defines the run rhythm.

After leaving the first saferoom, players commonly report a 2:30-style deadline to reach the next saferoom. Missing this timing condition adds major threat pressure immediately.

A commonly cited consequence is Goatman spawning from a random direction and forcing urgent pathing corrections. In practical terms, this turns small route errors into lethal outcomes quickly.

Timer baseline~2 minutes 30 seconds is the commonly referenced pressure window.
Failure stateTimer miss escalates chase pressure (often discussed as Goatman trigger).
Best responsePre-plan saferoom path, avoid unnecessary detours, and preserve movement flow.

Advanced play

For players already clearing runs and trying to improve stability or pace.

Advanced improvement is usually route optimization + threat pattern literacy. Small micro-optimizations compound over many rooms.

Movement techSlide boosts, momentum retention, and clean cornering.
RoutingResource priority, saferoom line choice, and risk-adjusted shortcuts.
ConsistencyFewer panic inputs, repeatable pathing, and deliberate tempo control.
