Good Light in Grace: Lore, Mechanics, and Symbolism

Overview

Good Light is an important mechanic and character in Grace. It is what fuels the players Flashlight and Lantern to be able to flash Entities, such as Rue or Drain.

Appearance

Good Light is not shown anywhere in the game currently, but is depicted as a heart with a cross in it as its Document.

Behavior

Despite not appearing even once other than through its document, it appears through your light source items, specifically the Flashlight and your Lantern. It is presumed to fuel those items, and is responsible for affecting flashable entities with examples such as Goatman, Drain and Rue.

Good light might also power the Carnation safe spots because of the lamp that all safe spots include but this is unconfirmed.

It is used as the main light source in the game to light up the path and has a property that can defend yourself from Entities that are vulnerable to His light.

• Good Light represents The Son in the Holy Trinity.
• Little to no information on Good Light is revealed as of the SPREAD THE LOVE Update.
• If you try to start a game without equipping either a Flashlight or a Lantern, the game will not let you enter, stating that "There was no Good Light to follow..."
• As of the Soul over Body update, you can also equip the Gleam and it will be considered as a Good Light.
• Good Light is the first Grace character to be exclusive to the Lore/Symbolism, without being shown in-game.
• In Good Light's document, the hands are posed in benediction, similar to that of the Divine Mercy devotion, or the Pantocrator icon.
• As well, Good Light's symbol resembles that of the Sacred Heart, another devotional.
• The symbol of Good Light from far away looks like a male face.
